The Killers have copied, yes copied exactly, the same intonation as Mark’s Dire Strait’s original recorded studio version (check it out). But there ain’t any of the real feeling, the heart, the guts, of the original. It’s a forgery. A good effort but 6 out of 10 at the most. Give it some heart boys. Must try harder.

When I first heard the Dire Straits version, I thought it was a good song. Now that I’ve heard the Killers version, I KNOW it’s a good song.

I don’t know his name (I’m not obsessed, I just think they’re amazingly fab), but I love his voice. Sounds natural, and if it’s natural it’s bound to be more meaningful.

i have bin listening to the killers since i was seven years old. almost a decade. still their songs make me laugh and cry just as they did the first time i heard them. its beautiful.

Is just ok, the original is unreachable, Pick Withers at the drums and of course Mark’s guitar, is just too much. But most important is the way that the song is sung by Knopfler, is full of emotion, like many of his ballads sometimes is not singing at all, it seems like if he’s reading poetry or telling a story with that rasp gloomy voice, and work so perfectly with the sound of his guitar. So at the end Yes is the singer not the song.

great song of course the original was better but the killers did a fine job covering it. I dont really like how they changed the guitar the timing in the original was just so abnormal the way it stopped. well now im rambling but great cover of course the original is better but good job killers

@Whiplash161372 Hey dude, about your metal ruling the world, to call yourself a muso is saying you have an appreciation for all kinds of music. These guys did a good cover, no it does not beat the original, the dire straits were definantly ahead of their time. But man next time your like my music has to be the best, take a look back, its the way you look at your music that makes it great. People look at metal and don’t understand it, but you dont seem to understand much…

@rosemarydragon ¬¬……….well……i’m not going to have a discussion…..i dont like the killers…….i like a few dire straits…….so please…..don´t say the killers is better only because you like some of their songs(the ones that appear in the radio xD)…..the day you say me you are a true fan…..i’ll respect you…..¬¬ i dont know why the money has to ruine the good songs like this… :Z….:S i dont know why i am posting in this song….
